Member Benefits
Since its founding in 1976, the Connecticut Federation of School Administrators (CFSA) has stood as a steady and quiet force behind the people who lead Connecticut’s schools. What began as a commitment to improving the professional lives of school administrators has grown into a comprehensive mission centered on advocacy, protection, and community.
At its core, CFSA has always sought to elevate the working lives of its members. Through tireless negotiation and representation, it has worked to secure fair salaries, better working conditions, and access to essential health and retirement benefits under the Teachers’ Retirement Board. But its purpose extends beyond contracts and policies—it is about safeguarding the dignity of the profession itself. Whether protecting the integrity of leaders in times of challenge or ensuring their voices are heard, CFSA has remained a steadfast advocate.
Behind the scenes, highly trained negotiators and legal experts support local unions at no cost, ensuring that administrators are never alone in moments of dispute or uncertainty. When conflicts arise—whether in grievances, unfair labor practices, or sensitive hearings—CFSA stands ready, offering not only expertise but also something rarer: constant, personal support, available every hour of every day.
The organization’s reach stretches well beyond individual districts. Through affiliations with groups like the AFL-CIO, AFSA, and partnerships with legal, insurance, and advocacy professionals, CFSA amplifies its influence. Its presence on numerous state boards, councils, and committees ensures that administrators help shape the policies that govern education—from discipline and evaluation standards to professional learning and certification.
Yet CFSA is more than advocacy—it is a community. Each year, members gather to celebrate achievements and look toward the future. At the Annual Dinner, awards are presented, scholarships are granted in memory of Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung, and a standout leader is honored as Administrator of the Year—someone who exemplifies collaboration, student-centered decision-making, and a commitment to safety and well-being.
Throughout the year, connections are strengthened in smaller but meaningful ways: regional dinners where local presidents share ideas, monthly newsletters that keep members informed, and even social gatherings, like a summer evening at a Hartford Yard Goats game. These moments reinforce what CFSA has always understood—that strong leadership is built not only through advocacy, but through relationships.
As CFSA celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, CFSA stands as a testament to decades of dedication. It is not just an organization, but a network of professionals united by a shared purpose: to support, protect, and uplift those who lead Connecticut’s schools—and, in doing so, to strengthen education for generations to come.
