2026 Administrator of the Year

Lara Bohlke

Lara Bohlke is a dedicated educational leader currently serving as the District Coordinator of 6-12 Curriculum for the Consolidated School District of New Britain (CSDNB). With a career rooted in the belief that all students deserve access to diverse opportunities to enhance their future opportunities, Lara works to ensure that every student in New Britain has access to high-quality, culturally relevant learning experiences. In her district-wide role, she facilitates the development and implementation of rigorous curricula for grades 6-12, focusing on math, science, and social studies to meet the diverse needs of all children.

Beyond curriculum development, Lara is a staunch advocate for administrative and instructional staff. She currently serves as the President of Local 51, the New Britain Administrators’ Union, for the 2025-26 school year. This follows her tenure as the union's Secretary during the 2024-25 academic year. A hallmark of her leadership was the successful negotiation of a new administrative contract throughout the summer and early fall of 2025, ensuring sustainable support and professional standards for district leaders.

Lara’s extensive experience in New Britain includes serving as a Curriculum Information Teacher and a Middle School Numeracy Resource Teacher, where she led district-wide professional development and standardized critical academic protocols. Her background is further distinguished by her work with the Connecticut State Department of Education on the Middle Grades Math Team, where she helped bridge state standards with classroom instruction.

A former Cheshire Teacher of the Year and Connecticut State Teacher of the Year Semifinalist, Lara brings over two decades of classroom and leadership experience to her work. She holds a Master of Science in Education Leadership and the 092 Intermediate Administrator Certificate from Southern Connecticut State University, as well as a Master of Science in Mathematics Education from Central Connecticut State University. Driven by a mission to foster social, emotional, and intellectual independence, Lara continues to lead initiatives that empower both the educators and the students of New Britain.
