Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung was the principal who died while trying to protect her Sandy Hook Elementary School Family. As a lifelong student, Dawn strove for excellence and encouraged those around her to do the same. Dawn gave her life to teaching, instilling a love of learning in all who knew her. CFSA and M & M Group Benefits, Inc. have established a scholarship fund in her honor. The scholarship will benefit pupils who care to proceed on her legacy of empowering our youth’s with insight and instruction.

Connecticut Federation of School Administration (CFSA), the state’s largest and only union for school administrators is pleased to inform you that Nicholas Lamothe of Torrington High School and Dylan Marie Burns of Manchester High School have been selected by the CFSA Scholarship Committee to receive the first Annual Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Education Scholarship. This scholarship was established by CFSA and sponsored by M & M Group Benefits to recognize outstanding full-time students who value teaching and will be enrolled or are currently enrolled in a higher learning institute, college/university or trade school.
